Salvatore Sirigu has said it was an honour to captain Italy in the Azzurri’s 4-0 win against Estonia.

“It doesn’t happen many time, I am enjoying it, I am happy for my family and for Torino,” the former PSG goalkeeper told Rai Sport.

“This is a nice group, without a solid group newcomers can’t settle in well. We try to welcome everyone trying to make them feel at ease.”

The likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Luca Pellegrini, Pietro Pellegri, Davide Calabria and Matteo Pessina made their senior Azzurri debut on Wednesday night.

“There were many young players, we have an identity. We trained for two days, sometimes one could make mistakes but now we are enjoying this moment.

“Bastoni is measuring playing at high levels, that’s what one has to do to improve as a professional."
