“Massimo Moratti is a reliable person and if he has said repeatedly that he won't sack Benitez, then we should believe him,” Simoni told Calciomercato.it.

“Besides, I think Benitez is the least responsible for the situation. He is a good man as well as a great Coach, having won the Champions League with Liverpool and Liga in Spain.
“Unfortunately, Inter are not working in ideal conditions right now. I have never seen so many injuries and even those who do play aren't in good shape because they don't get time to rest.
“If we add to all that a little lack of motivation after the success of the Treble and the fatigue from the World Cup, you can clearly see Benitez is not at fault and nobody could do better in the circumstances.”
It is reported the Spaniard could be axed tonight if he fails to beat Twente in the Champions League.
“I advise Moratti to keep hold of Benitez until the end of the season and then we'll see. Once the injured players return, so will the results,” continued Simoni.
“In any case, you cannot always win and if for a year there are no trophies, they'll just have to accept it. Recent Scudetti weren't really thanks to the Coaches, as they were won due to a series of factors, including the strength of the squad and the penalties to other clubs post-Calciopoli.”
