Inter Coach Roberto Mancini says he still has ‘belief’ in Xherdan Shaqiri but some players will ‘reluctantly’ be allowed to leave.

The Swiss winger has been linked with a move to English Premier League side Stoke City, despite only joining the Nerazzurri in January, while Davide Santon has also been linked with an exit.

“If we signed them [Santon and Shaqiri] in January, then it’s because we believed in them,” Mancini explained in his first Press conference of the season.

“We have the restriction of a 25-man squad, so we’ll have to do something, and reluctantly some will have to leave.

“If I had my way, I’d keep them all, but we have a numerical limit.”

The former Manchester City manager also discussed future transfer plans, with the club linked with the likes of Ivan Perisic and Mohamed Salah, as well as Stevan Jovetic from City.

“Jovetic is at City, Perisic is at Wolfsburg, and as for Salah… I don’t know!” Mancini laughed.

“We’ve never spoken to Salah. There’s been contact with Wolfsburg for Perisic, we’re talking about top players.

“Do we like Salah? If his situation is not resolved then I can’t say anything. I could only talk about him if we was on the market. He’s shown himself to be good on the pitch.

“Did I call him? I don’t have any credit left on my phone…”
