Sevilla President Jose Castro Carmona says ‘negotiations continue’ for a renewal despite reports of an imminent Inter move.
News broke yesterday that the Argentine playmaker, whose contract expires in June, had a secret Nerazzurri medical and agreed a three-year deal with the San Siro outfit.
However, Carmona revealed this morning that the Andalucian club are still intent on keeping Banega in Spain.
“The negotiations continue, we hope they will conclude as well as they can,” Carmona said to Sevilla ABC.
“We’re talking about a top player, a free agent requested by teams of high level and merit.
“I prefer to talk about the desire and the commitment of the player and the superlative way in which he’s defending the Sevilla shirt.”
