A weekend Serie D match between Cavese and Licata ended in an astonishing 19-5 victory for the home side.

The fixture took place near Naples, with neither team’s Coach present and with the Sicilian visitors only able to field nine players.

All of these were youth players following a dispute between senior players and the club, which was also responsible for the absence of their tactician.

Cavese meanwhile were reeling following the resignation of their own Coach hours before kick-off, following a ‘request’ made to him by the club’s fans regarding team selection.

Any kind of shock they may have been feeling was quickly averted when the match got underway however.

Striker Claudio De Rosa netted nine times as Cavese romped away to victory in farcical circumstances.
