SPAL have announced one player positive for coronavirus in the team group, but he wasn’t included in the matchday squad for Empoli tonight.

The COVID cases continue to appear in Italian football, this time in Serie B.

“SPAL announce that the latest series of tests revealed a positive case of COVID-19, relating to an athlete from the team group who is  not present at the Empoli trip,” the statement read.

“The player is completely asymptomatic and was promptly isolated according to federal and ministerial directives.

“The entire group have carried out new tests and the results will arrive in the afternoon, aiming to play the match.”

SPAL face Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani at 20.00 UK time.
