Owing to the League’s decision last summer to expand the second-tier’s end-of-season lottery to include teams who finished as low as eighth, an extra round of matches is needed.

Tonight’s quarter-finals see the teams who finished fifth and eighth in the regular season table face-off (Modena and Spezia), as well as those who ended in sixth and seventh (Crotone and Bari).

The matches this evening are one off ties and there will be no second leg or replays, meaning they will go to extra time and penalties if required.

In each of the encounters, the side who finished the season in the higher position has home advantage.

The two winners of tonight’s ties will go through to the semi-finals, where they will play a two legged tie against one of third placed Latina or fourth placed Cesena.

The play-off winners will win promotion to Serie A for next season.
