The top two sides in the Serie B table will automatically climb into Serie A, plus the one winner of the play-offs.
Teams ranking from eighth to third go head-to-head in a series of matches.
There will be no need for play-offs only if the third team has a gap of at least 14 points from fourth during the regular season.
