The Serie B play-offs look set to be delayed, as Bari face a points deduction for incorrectly paying their players.

The club have been accused of failing to pay contributions and deductions relating to salaries, but any punishment was due to be applied next season.

However, Serie B President Mauro Balata is keen for quicker trials, so the trial has been moved forward from June 1 to tomorrow.

However, Serie B President Mauro Balata is keen for quicker trials, so the trial has been moved forward from June 1 to tomorrow.

That has thrown the play-offs into chaos, as Bari welcome Cittadella to the San Nicola for a one-off game on Saturday night.

The Galletti have home advantage because they finished a point above Cittadella, but they face a two-point deduction for the wage issue.

That would therefore mean Citta would be due home advantage.

As a result, the Lega Serie B is today expected to postpone the matches scheduled for Saturday, with the other seeing Perugia visit Venezia.

That should allow the sporting justice system to deal with any appeal, which would be heard on Wednesday or Thursday.

Adding to the mess, Bari have already sold 8,000 tickets for Saturday’s game, which may now not even be played at the San Nicola.
