The contagion has also not slowed among the general population, as the lockdown measures will take several days to make an impact.

It’s therefore believed the Lega Serie A is planning for a return only on May 3, with training resuming two weeks before that.

With UEFA expected to postpone Euro 2020 until next year, it’ll give the clubs more time to finish their seasons regularly.

Even then, it’ll be a rush to get Serie A concluded by June 30, because that is the date when contracts expire.

There could otherwise be a situation where clubs reach July 1 still with games to play and members of their squads are no longer under contract or return to their former clubs after loan spells.
