Serie B bound Sampdoria are hoping to give something for their fans to smile about when they host an Empoli side on the cusp of mathematic safety.
The match between the Blucerchiati and the Azzurri kicks off at 19.45 UK time at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa.
It’s not been an enjoyable season for Dejan Stankovic’s Sampdoria. Rocked by off-pitch issues, the Ligurian outfit have only managed to secure three wins out of 34 this season and have been relegated to Serie B, leaving them with little to play for in the final weeks of the campaign.
The Blucerchiati are without Ignacio Pussetto, Mehdi Leries, Andrea Conti and Emil Audero, all of whom are dealing with injuries.
Empoli have shown positive signs this season and find themselves 14th in the Serie A table with 38 points, eight ahead of relegation candidates Hellas Verona. The team can now enjoy their final weeks of the season, having little pressure compared to the team’s circling the relegation zone.
The Tuscan outfit are without Koni De Winter, who is recovering from a knee issue.
