Maradona passed away on Wednesday due to a cardiac arrest and Napoli mourned their legend in the home win against HNK Rijeka in the Europa League last night.
Napoli’s historic stadium will now be renamed the Stadio San Paolo-Maradona and the mayor confirmed it will be official next week.

“Next week, we will formally name the Stadio San Paolo after Diego Armando Maradona,” he told Radio Punto Nuovo.
The Lega Serie A and all the clubs will pay tribute to Maradona during Serie A Week 9 and officially announced a list of the initiatives:
Warm-up: During the teams’ warm-up, the famous video with Maradona dribbling in 1989 will be broadcast on the big screens of the stadiums, to the music of ‘Live is Life’.
Black armbands: All the players will take to the pitch with a black armband on their left arm.
One-minute silence: A minute of silence will be carried out before kick-off in each match, with players and match officials lined up around the midfield circle.
During the minute of silence, an image of Maradona will be projected on the big screens and where the Serie A TIM logo usually is, the message ‘Ciao Diego’ will be projected.
Commemoration in the 10th minute: From the 10th minute of each match in Serie A Week 9, the image of Diego Armando Maradona will again be projected on the giant screens of the stadium, for a final tribute that will last one minute.
