However, the FIGC and its CTS (technical scientific committee) remain resolute that it will not be changed yet.
Unlike the Premier League, Bundesliga and La Liga, Serie A rules are far stricter if one person within the squad or staff tests positive for COVID-19.
In Italy, the individual who tests positive must go into total isolation for at least 14 days, whereas in the other top European leagues, it is seven days.
The real issue is that Italian rules force the entire squad and staff to remain in a training retreat for 14 days too.
They are allowed to continue fitness training, but only with social distancing measures, so not games between ranks or tactical routines.
There are the very real fears that if one or more positive test emerges, the entire league will grind to a halt.
Some have been very vocal about protesting the quarantine, with Lazio chief medic Ivo Pulcini warning he would not put perfectly healthy people behind walls for two weeks without good reason.
This FIGC ruling would therefore act as protection to ensure the clubs stand by the protocol.
After that, the CTS has stated it could be eased later in the season, depending on the overall COVID-19 pandemic curve in the country.
