Roma President Rosella Sensi has thanked Claudio Ranieri for his contribution to the club in the last 18 months.
Ranieri tendered his resignation last night and agreed to wrap up his contract after talks this morning.
Roma have since announced the appointment of Vincenzo Montella on an interim basis.
"I wish to thank Ranieri again for the work he did in these past two years with professionalism, dedication and the skills that brought me to choose him as the man to lead Roma in a delicate situation," Sensi wrote.

"No one can erase the emotions that he gave us like those we experienced over an incredible season, that of our comeback against Inter last year, the derbies we won. He gave all the fans and my family extraordinary moments that will remain in Roma's history.
"The decision to leave Roma cannot but honour the man and I can imagine how hard it was.
"He is Roman and a fan of our colours. I wish the man and the Coach a dazzling future and all the success that he deserves."
