“Playing like that, against a strong team like Sampdoria, I’m disappointed not to have scored points,” Semplici told Sky after the final whistle.

“Just as against Sampdoria, the team played well tonight and that’s why we’re frustrated, but we need to continue like this to get results.

“Our attitude at the start of the second half was wrong, after they scored we brought our quality out and that increases the regret because we only rediscovered our identity after going behind.

“Tonight we took a few more risks but that’s the kind of football I want.

“The changes? We saw in training that there were some players who couldn’t play, so I had to change things.

“That’s normal in a difficult league like Serie A.”
