The agent of Ajax defender Perr Schuurs confirms that ‘Torino are one of the main candidates’ to sign him, but Fiorentina and Bologna are among contenders too.

The centre-back is under contract until June 2025 with the Dutch giants, so would be available on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

He has dropped down the pecking order at Ajax and was told to find another club, so he seems to be leaning towards Serie A.

“Over the next few days, it will become clear whether my client stays at Ajax or leaves,” agent Wessel Weezenberg told De Telegraaf.

“Torino are one of the main candidates, but there are several other clubs interested too.”

Sky Sport Italia had reported director Davide Vagnati flew to Amsterdam for negotiations with Schuur, hoping to beat the competition from Fiorentina.

Bologna are also to be considered contenders after selling Arthur Theate to Rennes this week, as the Belgium international today completed the transfer for €19m plus up to €3m in various bonuses.

Schuurs is 22 years old and has been called up to the senior Netherlands squad, albeit still waiting for his first cap.

He was originally a product of the Fortuna Sittard youth academy, moving to Ajax in January 2018.
