Matias Ezequiel Schelotto is ready to remain at Catania even if parent club Atalanta are promoted back into Serie A.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Sicilians in January from Cesena, has settled well into life at the Stadio Massimino and would be happy to prolong his stay.

“Atalanta own my contract,” said the former Italian Under-21 international. “At the end of the season my agent and I will sit down with the club and decide what to do.

“Atalanta own my contract,” said the former Italian Under-21 international. “At the end of the season my agent and I will sit down with the club and decide what to do.

“I'm happy at Catania though and I could decide to stay. However, for the moment, I'm just concentrating on helping the team survive in the Division.”

Schelotto, born in Argentina, is one of Italy's hopes for the future given his versatility as a right-back and a right-winger.

Atalanta are on course to return to the Italian top-flight after an excellent campaign in Serie B under the guidance of Stefano Colantuono.
