Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali insists Napoli have not been in touch for Maxime Lopez but is open to sending the French midfielder to the Stadio Maradona.

The 25-year-old has recently hinted at a possible transfer to Naples, where he would reunite with his ex-Marseille boss Rudi Garcia.

Speaking to TvPlay on Sunday, Sassuolo director Carnevali admitted that the Neroverdi are open to selling their Regista.

“I’d like to satisfy Rudi Garcia. Never say never. We’ve had some requests for Maxime, but not from Napoli,” he said.

“It’s true that the lad would like to join a bigger club, even abroad. We’ll see if we can meet his desire. I see him as one of the best Sassuolo players and I am happy when there are rumours about him, Domenico Berardi and Davide Frattesi, it means that the club is working well.”

According to Tuttosport, however, members of Garcia’s staff have already made contact with Maxime Lopez, who would become Stanis Lobotka’s backup at the Stadio Maradona in 2023-24.

Lopez has already played 116 games under Garcia, scoring five goals. His contract at the Mapei Stadium expires in June 2025.
