Sassuolo look to have won the race with Torino and Palermo to sign Cesena striker Gregoire Defrel.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the deal was struck for €7m and could be completed over the weekend.

The French forward is due to sign a five-year contract, where he replaces Simone Zaza.

“It’s true there are negotiations with Sassuolo, but the situation is static,” Cesena director of sport Rino Foschi told SportItalia on Friday.

There are reports they were able to push forward and break through that impasse.

He was co-owned by Parma, but became a Cesena player outright following the Ducali’s bankruptcy.
