Sassuolo goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo believes they have a “50 per cent chance of survival” in Serie A.

This is the Neroverdi’s first ever top flight campaign and they’ve struggled for much of it, including a 7-0 home defeat to Inter.

However, after sacking Coach Eusebio Di Francesco and then recalling him around a brief spell under Alberto Malesani, they seem to have found their feet.

“We earned three fundamental points, as without those the situation would’ve become absolutely critical,” said Pegolo of their 1-0 victory at Chievo.

“Now we look at these remaining four games as four Cup Finals. Safety would be an incredible achievement.”

Sassuolo are now joint third from bottom with Bologna on 28 points and only two behind Chievo, while Livorno have 25 and Catania aren't done for yet on 23.

“We are gaining experience with time and also cutting down on our errors, so we can’t wait for these next few matches.

“I think we have a 50 per cent chance of safety in Serie A.”

The next test is going to be extremely difficult, as Sassuolo will take on leaders Juventus” data-scaytid=”22″>Juventus.

“We will play our game, albeit knowing it’s going to be very tough.”
