Multiple reports state Maurizio Sarri will be announced as the new Chelsea manager next week, as Antonio Conte awaits his dismissal.

The Guardian and The Telegraph newspaper both claim any day from Monday onwards could be the one for Sarri to arrive at Stamford Bridge.

The appointment has been delayed for over a month by various issues, as Sarri is still under contract with Napoli and Conte with his staff must be paid around €11m if they are sacked early.

The appointment has been delayed for over a month by various issues, as Sarri is still under contract with Napoli and Conte with his staff must be paid around €11m if they are sacked early.

These all seem to be reaching a turning point, with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis prepared to release Sarri for €5m after Chelsea passed his test – agreeing not to approach Elseid Hysaj and Raul Albiol when their release clauses were still open.

Now players have apparently been told to attend pre-season training at Chelsea’s Cobham ground on July 9.

Their first friendly match is organised with Perth Glory in Australia on July 23.
