Maurizio Sarri says Gonzalo Higuain has been ‘too nervous’ with Napoli, and wants him to ‘play with a smile’.

The Coach has previously said that the Argentinian international has to improve, and was asked to explain those comments in a Press conference.

“If he arrives one hour earlier than expected, I’ll be pleased,” Sarri admitted, when asked about rumours Higuain could return to pre-season early following the Copa America.

“The important thing is for him to be ready, he had a long season. He must rest, both physically and mentally, and not have fatigue from last year.

“I really want to talk to him to understand him as a person, because there aren’t many doubts about him as a player.

“Higuain can improve, lately when I’ve seen him he’s looked too nervous, if he played with a smile he could do more.

“He has to go out there and have fun. Whoever smiles and has fun on the pitch always wins in the long run.”

The former Empoli Coach also addressed his unusual technique of using a drone to organise his team in training.

“When you do something unusual in football it always creates a buzz. It allows me to see things from another angle, and it goes up and down with the defensive line, where a camera would lose depth.”
