A €5m ‘gentleman’s agreement’ has been struck for Chelsea to relieve Maurizio Sarri from his contract at Napoli, it is claimed.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the ex-Partenopei Coach held talks in London yesterday alongside his agent and officials from both the San Paolo and Stamford Bridge clubs – with an agreement finally reached that suits all parties.
The Italian daily claims Sarri will receive a three-year contract on wages of €6m a season.

However, the complexities of the deal mean it will prove far more expensive for Chelsea.
Sacking current Coach Antonio Conte will reportedly cost the club €11m, with the Blues paying a further €3m in agent fees.
Furthermore, they will pay Napoli €5m in what is said to be a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ that would see Sarri finally relieved from his contract at the San Paolo.
The ex-Partenopei Coach has been heavily linked with a move to the English Premier League club throughout the summer, but the deal has been held up by his continuing presence on Napoli’s payroll.
Despite Sarri being replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, he was not technically sacked by President Aurelio De Laurentiis – leaving him in limbo with two years of his contract remaining.
However, the protracted saga now appears set to end with Sarri taking over from his compatriot Conte in west London.
