Napoli’s lawyer warns Chelsea and others to “speak with Aurelio De Laurentiis” if they want Maurizio Sarri.

The Coach won’t be in charge of the Partenopei next season, as Carlo Ancelotti has already been appointed as his replacement.

As is standard practice in Italy though, his contract hasn’t been rescinded so Sarri is effectively on gardening leave until another club pays to release him from his current deal.

Until this month that could be done for €8m, but now the owner can name his price.

“The clause has expired and unless there is a new negotiation, the Coach is still under contract with Napoli,” Mattia Grassani, Napoli’s lawyer, confirmed on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“If a club wants to sign him immediately, the €8m is no longer a reference, a contract would have to be drawn up from scratch.

“On June 30 his registration [as Coach] expires and from July 1 [when Carlo Ancelotti takes over] he’ll have been formally removed but he can’t break free [from his contract] except with the permission of the club.

“In practice the release clause is no longer valid, and any interested club should speak with De Laurentiis to free Sarri from his current contract.”

The lawyer also gave an update on Amin Younes and Simone Verdi.

“Younes is a Napoli player and must honour his contract. As for the alleged incorrect behaviour on Napoli’s part, all I can say is that time has proven us right.

“The player must show up and join the team, that’s the only option.

“Verdi? Transfers are always complex, I can’t speak right now.”
