While Santos are refusing to pay any of Gabriel Barbosa’s wages during a loan, Sao Paulo and Flamengo are better options for Inter.

The forward was bought from Santos for €29.5m in August 2016, but loaned out to Benfica after failing to make a single Serie A start.

As Gabigol is not playing regularly in Portugal either, it’s increasingly likely he will return to Brazil in January.

Today Santos President Jose Carlos Peres warned they would not pay even a small portion of his salary during a loan spell.

According to Mediaset Premium and UOL, Sao Paulo are confident they can revitalise Gabigol’s career and would be open to sharing some of his wages.

Flamengo are another possibility for the 21-year-old.

This season he has contributed one goal and one assist in just five competitive games for Benfica, playing a grand total of 164 minutes of football.
