Italian media report Inter have a deal with Newcastle United for the return of Davide Santon.

The versatile full-back has been repeatedly linked with a Serie A comeback, though mainly in the direction of Milan.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter have agreed to take Santon on loan from the Magpies with option to buy that becomes mandatory for €4m when he makes his 13th competitive appearance for the club.

He is expected to undergo a medical in Milan on Monday.

It would be a remarkable move, as Santon grew up in the Inter youth academy and was sold to Newcastle for €5.6m in August 2011.

Now 24, he was given his first shot in the full Inter squad by Jose Mourinho, who often called him ‘il bambino’ – the kid.
