Giuseppe Sannino is targeting at least a point away to Lazio in midweek so as to make certain of Siena’s stay in Serie A for another year.

In his debut season in the Italian top flight, Sannino stands one point away from ensuring that the Tuscan outfit avoid relegation.

That opportunity arrives with a trip south to Rome to face Lazio, who Siena put four goals past in January.

“Against Milan we have been disadvantaged by the result,” admitted Sannino, in reference to the 4-1 home defeat suffered to the Rossoneri at the weekend.

“There’s also a point that the guys in Rome will have a desire for revenge against us.

“I’d like to conquer a major achievement here, so as to ennoble an extraordinary championship,” reflected the Coach, who is aware that a defeat for Lecce would also guarantee Siena’s safety, regardless of their result at the Olimpico.

“I want this goal, however, to be achieved from our own efforts, without regard to the misfortune of others, and then on Sunday there is the hope that against Parma we can have a nice farewell in front of our fans.

“Will Lazio be affected by their absences on Wednesday? I never look in the camp of other teams, I think only with the desire to prove myself with my own, it is a motivation that has kept us united in playing out a great season.”
