With news Palermo have axed director Giorgio Perinetti as well, former Coach Giuseppe Sannino notes “we’re not the first, nor the last.”

Not even a month into the season, the Sicilians have already sacked Sannino and have now parted company with director Perinetti after bringing in new general manager Pietro Lo Monaco.

“I believe that the city and the fans at Palermo are extraordinary, so I hope it can all be resolved and they can get the results that they deserve,” Sannino told Radio Sei.

“I am not someone who goes back on his actions, so I would make the same choices again. I can say that I was the Coach of Palermo. I just hope the club can rediscover its calm.”

Sannino and Perinetti were both at Siena last season and joined Palermo over the summer.

“I don’t know what happened with Perinetti, but I will say over the course of our careers there are moments one must experience with dignity. He is a great professional.

“We are not the first, nor the last people this will happen to. Every President wants to do what is best for his club.

“I can only speak highly of President Maurizio Zamparini and thank him for giving me this opportunity. I know that Gian Piero Gasperini is a great Coach and I hope he can do well. I also hope people will not forget me.”
