Sampdoria are concerned after confirming striker Fabio Quagliarella sustained a knee injury during their training camp in Turkey.

The Blucerchiati have been working in Antalya during the break for the 2022 World Cup, getting ready for the return of Serie A football from January 4.

During one of their training sessions, Quagliarella sprained his left knee and will have tests over the next couple of days to ascertain the extent of the damage.

That means he is out of the friendly test against Vincenzo Montella’s Adana Demirspor.

Quagliarella will turn 40 next month and has been at Sampdoria since 2016.

So far this season, he is yet to score a single goal after 12 Serie A appearances and two in the Coppa Italia.

Samp are under their second coach of the season, Dejan Stankovic, after sacking Marco Giampaolo.

They remain in penultimate place in the Serie A table with just six points from 15 rounds.
