Everton's Samuel Eto'o is rumoured to be close to a transfer to Sampdoria, as Massimo Ferrero encourages speculation.

The Blucerchiati were said to be looking at Udinese's Luis Muriel, but their President has offered comment also on shock links to Inter’s former star.

“I'd bring Eto'o and score many goals with him,” tweeted Ferrero in a characteristic rhyming couplet, before reiterating the interest in Muriel.

SportMediaset confirm that there was a meeting between the player's agent and Sampdoria director Carlo Osti, followed by a phone mediation with Ferrero himself, who is currently in the United States.

Reportedly the player is open to reducing his €3m salary, in extending his contract by one year.

Everton are believed to be convinced to let him depart and whilst some outlets suggest Samp may face competition from the Premier League and West Ham, SportMediaset expect him in Italy soon.
