Brazilian reports claim Sampdoria are leading the race ahead of Spartak Moscow for Gremio striker Luan, offering €20m to have him in January.

The 24-year-old hitman has one senior cap for Brazil and already scored 11 goals in 22 competitive games in 2017.

According to ESPN Brazil, Gremio have agreed basic terms with Sampdoria to hand over Luan in January for €20m.

They preferred this to the proposal from Spartak Moscow, which was worth more at €24m, but the Russians wanted to have the player at their disposal immediately.

On the other hand, UOL in Brazil claim that Gremio are still considering the two bids.

If Sampdoria do pay €20m for Luan, it’d be an unusually large sum for the club, but also point to Patrik Schick’s sale for around €30m.

Schick had been due to join Juventus this summer, but the transfer was abandoned when he failed a medical.

That issue has now been resolved and the Czech Republic international is in advanced negotiations for a move to Inter
