It is expected to continue raining into the night, so playing on Sunday afternoon would also have been risky.
Genoa were pushing for a Monday night match, while Sampdoria preferred March 3 or 11.

The Lega Serie A has now decided to reschedule the derby for Tuesday February 24 at 17.30 GMT.
As a result of this, Sampdoria’s Week 25 match with Atalanta has been moved from Saturday February 28 at 17.00 GMT to Sunday March 1 at 14.00 GMT.
