Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that the 55-year-old is currently travelling to Rome from Dubai in order to agree a contract with Ferrero this afternoon.

La Gazzetta dello Sport believes that Zenga has been chosen principally for economic reasons and will be easier to secure than Basel’s Paulo Sousa or Empoli’s Maurizio Sarri, who would require large payouts.

The paper reports that Zenga is the only free candidate who would cost under €1m . His only previous Serie A coaching experience was in the 2008-09 season, when he was in charge of Catania.
