Sampdoria director Carlo Osti accused Anderlecht striker Stefano Okaka of “lying” about his departure.

The Italy international complained that he was forced out of Samp over the summer after the club “threatened to ruin my career” if he didn’t accept either a transfer or a lowered wage deal.

“His bitterness towards us is completely unmotivated,” director Osti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It is time to say enough to his lies. Okaka arrived here, wanted by Sinisa Mihajlovic. I then proposed a five-year contract worth €1m per season until 2019, but he refused to sign.

“If anything, he was the one who had an outburst of anger at me twice, leading to him being fined by the club.”
