Salernitana owners are aware of the risk of exclusion from Serie A, but have asked for more time to sell the club.

The club have confirmed that they haven’t received offers that meet the minimum requirements.

Claudio Lotito is the man behind a trustee that formally owns the newly-promoted Serie A side, but he is also the President of Lazio, and the Serie A rules bar two clubs from playing in the same division under the same patron.

What happens if Salernitana are excluded from Serie A?

Lotito was supposed to find new owners for Salernitana by July, but the deadline has been pushed back repeatedly, so if the club is not sold by the end of the year, it will be excluded from Serie A from January.

The group that formally owns Salernitana has released a statement asking FIGC for more time to find investors.

With an official statement quoted by several Italian media, they confirm that no suitable offer has arrived on their table.

They have informed FIGC about the latest development, asking for more time to sell the club, allowing the Granata to end the current Serie A campaign.
