Udinese may be on the verge of five straight wins in Serie A, but Samir Handanovic insists the club are only focused on survival.

The Bianconeri are currently eighth, just two points off a Champions League spot, but the goalkeeper is remaining cautious.

"All we are thinking about is reaching 40 points," said the Slovenian international. "Our primary objective is to avoid relegation.

"Then, once we have hit that tally, we can start thinking about other objectives."

The custodian's cautiousness stems from the fact that the northern outfit began the season in appalling fashion, losing their first four games.

"We were taught a few lessons in those matches," he added. "It was a tough position to be in, but we picked ourselves up.

"However, I think the fact that we had so many players at the World Cup in South Africa didn't help our cause initially."
