Goalscorer Giuseppe Rossi couldn't help but feel disappointed at only snatching a draw in Dortmund.
“I dedicate the goal to my father. It almost went as planned, but we were missing the victory,” he said of Italy's 1-1 result.
“It's still a positive draw away from home against a great side, although a shame as we didn't quite get there. We are improving and must continue along this path.”
Rossi came off the bench at half-time to make up for Miroslav Klose's early opener.

“Marco Borriello moves a lot and fights hard, as do Antonio Cassano, Giampaolo Pazzini and Alessandro Matri, so I get along well with all of them.
“I always try to get into the game as quickly as possible. All the other substitutes also had a great match, so it was all much easier.
“It's the same for me whether I'm in the starting XI, a substitute or have less responsibility. I always try to give my best for the team.”
The Azzurri equalised nine minutes from time, but Rossi and Borriello seemed eager to turn it around completely straight away.
“We felt that we could win this match and were playing well, creating several opportunities, so we got the ball out the net straight away and ran to the centre-circle.”
Rossi has repeatedly been linked with a Serie A comeback, but continues to play for Villarreal.
“I don't know why I didn't return to Italy. That wasn't up to me. I have to keep trying my best with Villarreal and am happy there. At the end of the day, the clubs decide what is to be done.”
