Giuseppe Rossi’s agent has hinted that this summer could be the transfer window that the player makes a move from Villarreal.

The Italian international, who last played in Serie A for Parma back in 2006-07, has spent the last five seasons on the books of La Liga outfit Villarreal.

Even as the 25-year-old currently recovers from knee ligament damage sustained in late October – making him a doubt for Euro 2012 with Italy – his agent believes that the summer could see him find a new club.

Talking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Federico Pastorello acknowledged that any move to Napoli – one club he has been linked with in the past – might have to come with Ezequiel Lavezzi’s sale to raise funds.

“Lavezzi going to England and the money from his sale being used to bring Rossi to Napoli? I cannot confirm this, but it is a possible scenario that Pocho leaves Napoli and I cannot rule out the possibility that Giuseppe does not want Napoli.

“The market is yet to be decided, we must wait and see. Giuseppe has had a difficult year, both for himself and for Villarreal. Can I say that Rossi is ready to wear the shirt of Napoli? No, otherwise I’ll cause a ruckus.”

This last comment is in relation to Rossi’s own words in a recent interview that spoke of his anger at how Pastorello has handled and encouraged rumours of a departure from Villarreal. Even so, Pastorello took time today to suggest a transfer is likelier now than ever before.

“It is normal that you are considering so many things – after five seasons with Villarreal, I believe that all the parties are more susceptible to reasoning with possible offers that arrive.

“We’ll see, but one thing is certain – today, Villarreal is more ready to sell Giuseppe and Giuseppe is more ready to leave Villarreal.”
