There are fears Italy star Giuseppe Rossi could be out for up to six months with a serious knee injury.

The Villarreal talent picked up the injury during last night's game with Real Madrid and is undergoing tests today.

If the initial concerns prove to be founded, then Rossi might've damaged the anterior cruciate ligament.

This tends to keep players out for between four and six months.

It would be a devastating blow to Italy, who have regularly looked to Rossi in their starting XI during the qualifying campaign for Euro 2012.

If the injury is confirmed, he could potentially miss the tournament in Poland and Ukraine, or at least be nowhere near match fitness.
