“I’m very happy with the goal and the victory,” the January signing from Villarreal told Sky Sport Italia. “We suffered against a good side, but I am satisfied.
“It is a beautiful evening for me, my family were in the stands and that makes me happy. I spent two or three months of my rehabilitation close to them and that was very useful for me.”
Rossi was in the thoughts of Italy boss Cesare Prandelli before his injury woes and the tactician has admitted he will be keeping a close eye on the 26-year-old again.
“The faith Prandelli has in me is pleasing,” the man born in America continued. “I look to improve with each Sunday, I want to be at 100 per cent in order to get back to my levels of the past.”
The Viola were a revelation last term and some pundits believe, after a summer of rebuilding their squad, that they could fight for the title.
“I’m not thinking about the Scudetto,” Rossi conceded. “We have to take one game at a time and right now we are focused on Grasshopper in the Europa League.”
