Giuseppe Rossi says 'I'd like to play for a great team, and that's what Fiorentina are', but his future remains open.

The 29-year-old striker was loaned to Levante last January as he worked on returning to form, following yet another cycle of injuries.

With six goals in 17 games, the Italo-American is back to performing like a real footballer, and he just returned to Fiorentina after a holiday in the United States with his family.

“I'm happy, although I'm tired after the long journey,” Rossi said when landing at the airport, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Now we can start the season in the Viola colours.

“I still want to play for a great team and that's what Fiorentina are.”

It still seems likely that Rossi will be sold, as he seems not to fit very well in Paulo Sousa's tactical system.

“Right now the only thing I'm thinking about is resting, and getting started with the season.

“Of course I'll have a chat with Sousa, and with everyone else, but I'll say this again, I'm very happy to be here.”
