The Nerazzurri start with a home game against Gladbach on Wednesday, but the Bundesliga side are prepared to challenge the giants in the difficult Group B, completed by Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk.

“We already knew before the draw that we would have top-notch opponents in the group,” Rose told Kicker. “Inter, Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk really make sense of the Champions League.

“It will be an exciting experience. However, we will aim to advance in the competition.

“Any other target would go against our character. We have been working hard to get to the Champions League. Now, we want to do our best in this competition.”
