Now it’s expected that he will be given a new contract, and the Giallorossi’s sporting director was asked about the issue in today’s Press conference.
“I’ve talked a lot with Kostas,” Monchi said.
“I’ve communicated to him the ideas we have, it’s nothing other than what I’ve said. The club will set the timescales.
“He has faith in the club and the club has proven it deserves that faith, so we’re starting from a position of mutual trust.
“Do we need another centre-back? I talk with [Coach] Eusebio [Di Francesco] every day. Right now the priority is a winger.
“That doesn’t mean that we won’t look for other players from here to the end of the transfer window, but the priority is a winger.
“Now we have the friendlies with Sevilla and Celta Vigo, and after that we’ll calmly analyse where we think we can improve, if necessary.
“We always start from the presupposition that choices are totally shared with the Coach.”
