Roma have yet to make any market moves two weeks into the January transfer window, despite the side lagging behind Serie A’s top four, while Lorenzo Pellegrini, Bryan Cristante and Nicolo Zaniolo have established themselves in the Giallorossi XI.

“I won’t talk about players who don’t belong to Roma, but I want to make a little comment,” the sporting director told Rai Sport before his club’s Coppa Italia tie with Virtus Entella.

“Yesterday I talked to the Coach. I talk to him every day and in fact, he said the same things that I said.

“We’re looking for some players to raise our level but if we don’t find them, we’ll stay as we are.

“He didn’t make any requests because he knows the sporting management is working every day to strengthen the team but also that there are limits placed on us and we already spent big last summer.

“The team are already strong for me, so solutions must be found from within. Badelj? I already said that I won’t be talking about players from other teams.

“if you put a Lazio player to me then you put me in even more trouble! Badelj’s a player I’ve always liked, even when I was at Sevilla, but right now we’re not thinking about him.

“Our young and Italian midfield? We’re happy that Roma’s midfield is currently composed of good, young players.

“We hope it’ll be an important spine in the future, not only for Roma but also the national team.

“De Rossi? He’s a very important player who’s been out for some time, but he’s recovering and we’re sure that he’ll be ready for the second part of the season.”
