Roma are continuing in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and the Spaniard would be willing to take a pay-cut in order to team up with Jose Mourinho and Paulo Dybala according to reports.

According to Calciomercato, Morata earns around €6m per season on his current contract with Atleti, which runs until the end of the 2023-24 season.

That figure is considered to be too high for Roma, however, Calciomercato report that Morata would be willing to take a pay cut, to around €4.5m a year in order to join the Giallorossi.

The 30-year-old is said to be the prime target for Mourinho and his team, despite widely reported interest in a loan deal for West Ham and Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca.

Recent reports highlighted that Mourinho and Dybala had both phoned Morata in an attempt to convince him to move to the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

There is, however, some confusion over the price that Morata is available for. Some reports have suggested that he could leave for a fee between €10m-€12m, whilst others, predominantly in Spain, claim that the figure is actually in the region of €20m-€25m.

If Atleti’s asking price were in fact at the €25m mark, then Roma would reportedly push for an alternative arrangement, most likely a loan deal with a conditional purchase clause.
