Roma are closing in on Monaco winger Yannick Ferreira Carrasco and Bayern Munich’s Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Giallorossi have been very active on the transfer market ahead of their return to the Champions League.

According to both the Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport, Roma are very close to securing a €5.5m deal for Monaco wide man Carrasco.

The Belgium Under-21 international is still only 20 years old, but already a regular in the Monaco side.

His contract expires in a year and his entourage rejected a renewal, so there seems little preventing the move from going ahead.

Rudi Garcia’s men are also negotiating with Bayern Munich for Swiss international forward Shaqiri, who scored a hat-trick in the World Cup.

They want to lower the price-tag to €16m and could include Mehdi Benatia as part of the deal, seeing as Manchester City have turned all their attention to Eliaquim Mangala of Porto instead.

Meanwhile, there is one official transfer completed. Roma have sold midfielder Valerio Verre to Udinese for €0.9m.
