“It is a difficult time, we will take time to consider things,” said Montali on Sky Sport Italia.

“It's not good to make gut decisions in the heat of the moment. We have to intervene, surgically and accurately.”

When asked if that meant Roma were also considering a change of management, Montali's response was telling.

“We are among intelligent people, you have understood the situation. We are trying to decide what is best for us.

“It's not easy to understand this situation. We don't want to find who is to blame, but seek out the problems. Once we have understood the problems, we will act.

“A decision should be made by tonight, as we don't have that much time. Roma have a Coach, who is Claudio Ranieri, and the club is thinking about what is the best solution to carry on this season.”
