Former Coach Marcello Lippi thinks Roma have a shot at stealing Juventus' Scudetto, but Inter aren't compact enough.

The Serie A veteran was interviewed by Tuttosport and discussed the upcoming championship, starting from the reinforced Giallorossi.

“Roma have substantially closed the gap with Juventus,” he said.

“Just look at their attack: [Edin] Dzeko, [Mohamed] Salah, [Francesco] Totti, [Juan] Iturbe and [Victor] Ibarbo, it's a very strong team.

“But those who have been winning for four years in a row must be deemed the favourites.

“A team that's different is not necessarily weaker. It simply means that the club had the courage and the foresight to plan ahead.

“With a clear vision and the right reinforcements, the Bianconeri are still the favourites, even though the injury to [Sami] Khedira complicated things for them.

“[Paul] Pogba? He's a born leader, and he deserves the shirt number 10.

“By choosing to stay with Juve he showed that he has character.

“Now he must confirm his leadership skills along with his genius, by whittling away from his game certain needless tricks that he does in some parts of the pitch.

“As for Paul Dybala, I can only speak of him from a technical point of view. He's a striker that brings together brilliance and intuition.

“Once he's gathered a bit of physical strength too, he's going to be perfect.”

The World Cup winner then went on to discuss the other contenders for the Scudetto.

“Below Juventus and Roma I'd put Milan. Their team is markedly improved and more motivated.

“With a Coach like [Sinisa] Mihajlovic, they've picked up many positive things.

“Inter, on the other hand, have changed a lot of things and they still want to change more.

“In cases like these, it's not enough to snap your fingers to create a compact team.

Fiorentina? I'm curious to see them, they started off very well.

“They could be among the protagonists. [New Coach] Paulo Sousa is giving them a lot of confidence.”
