Francesco Totti admits Roma cannot compete with Juventus for the Scudetto but insists Eusebio Di Francesco is going nowhere.

Roma have started the season with only one win from their opening three Serie A games, prompting speculation over Di Francesco’s future, as well as criticism of Monchi’s transfer policy.

Furthermore, Corriere dello Sport described recent remarks by Patrik Schick and Justin Kluivert as the youngsters ‘crying’.

“None of us expected us to start the season like we have,” Totti told Roma Radio.

“it’s a particular spell for us, but we can’t start pointing the finger. All the big teams in the League have had difficulties so far, except Juventus who are having a separate campaign and are away from the competition.

“Our objective is between second and fourth place and to get out of our Champions League group.

“We have to protect Trigoria from all the chatter. Eusebio Di Francesco is one of the best around and he’ll prove it over time: he knows how to get out of this spell, but we’ll need the fans’ support.

“I’d have said the same things at 18, it’s normal, although people tend to extrapolate whatever they want.

“Schick and Kluivert are two exceptional lads. I’m sorry that people think certain things, which aren’t true.

“Monchi sold some great players but bought others. I’ve heard so much needless stuff about him.

“if the results haven’t arrived at the end of the year then we can draw a line and it can be criticised.”
