Roma announce that a first-team player tested positive for COVID, hours before their match against Juventus.
José Mourinho’s side host the Bianconeri at the Stadio Olimpico at 17.30 UK time today.
They already have Daniel Fuzato and Borja Mayoral out of action with COVID, but one player has now tested positive.
“The club can confirm that, following a latest round of molecular testing, a first-team player has returned a positive result for COVID-19,” a club statement read.
“The relevant health authorities have immediately been informed.
“The player, who has completed the vaccine cycle, is doing fine and has begun self-isolating.”
Lega Serie A approved a new protocol on Thursday, stating that games must go ahead of 13 players are fit. This means the match between the Giallorossi and the Bianconeri is not at risk of being postponed.
Carlo Pinsoglio is Juventus’ only player currently positive for COVID as their captain Giorgio Chiellini recovered earlier this week.
